CHARGEABLE WEIGHT
What you actually pay air freight on
Air freight bills on whichever is greater, actual or volumetric weight, so the shape of your cargo matters as much as its mass. If you are not sure how yours prices, send the dimensions and we will work it out.
Actual (gross) weight
The real weight on the scale, packaging included. Dense, heavy cargo almost always prices on this, so the number is easy to estimate before you book.
- Measured in kilograms, packaging included
- Governs when cargo is heavy for its size
- Machined parts, liquids, and hardware usually price here
- Simple to estimate before the shipment moves
Rule of thumb: above roughly 167 kg per cubic metre, you pay on actual weight.
Volumetric (dimensional) weight
The space the cargo occupies, converted to a weight. Light, bulky cargo almost always prices on this, so how tightly it is packed changes the cost.
- Length × width × height in cm, divided by 6000
- Governs when cargo is light for its size
- Foam, textiles, and empty enclosures usually price here
- Tighter, denser packing lowers the number
Rule of thumb: below roughly 167 kg per cubic metre, you pay on volume, not the scale.
WHAT WE HANDLE
What we handle on every air shipment
Booking is the easy part. Air shipments come apart at acceptance and in the paperwork, so that is where the attention goes.
Airline and consolidator booking
We book the routing, confirm the space, and give you the acceptance cut-off in writing, direct or consolidated, whichever serves the deadline and the cost.
Air waybill, drafted and checked
The draft AWB, master and house, goes to you for approval. Corrections get raised before issue, because fixing them at the counter costs a flight.
Customs documentation at both ends
Commercial invoice, packing list, and certificate of origin checked against the booking, with the declaration coordinated at origin and destination.
Regulated cargo flagged before acceptance
Lithium batteries, temperature needs, and other regulated items get raised early and prepared correctly, so nothing is turned away when the shipment reaches the airline.
COVERAGE
Gateways we fly into and out of
Coordination through Malaysia’s main air cargo gateways. Where a road leg gets your cargo to the right one, we arrange that too and keep it a single job.
KUALA LUMPUR · KLIA
KLIA main cargo terminal
Direct and consolidated uplift
The default gateway for most Klang Valley and central-region air cargo.
PENANG · BAYAN LEPAS
Penang International Airport
Strong for northern-region shippers
Often the shorter, cheaper lane for electronics and northern cargo.
SOUTH AND EAST MALAYSIA
Senai International, Johor
Kota Kinabalu and Kuching
Road feed to a gateway when needed
Coordinated the same way, with routing chosen for the deadline.
Flown in, road onward
An air leg into KLIA and a road leg to your warehouse stays one booking, one team, and one set of updates.
COMMON QUESTIONS
What people ask before they book an air shipment
Straight answers on transit times, chargeable weight, documents, and the cargo that needs extra care in the air.
Not sure air is the right mode?
Send the weight and dimensions you have, even rough ones. If sea or road serves your deadline and budget better, we will say so.
How fast is air freight out of Malaysia, really?
It depends on the lane and whether it flies direct or on a consolidation. We put the airline transit and a realistic door-to-door window in the quote, not a best case you cannot plan around.
